Ministry offers a residential program for single mothers needing support. Throughout the decades, the needs of children and families changed. Society saw less true orphans and more of what are called “orphans of the living” – children who have been neglected, abused and/or abandoned by their families. The ministry also expanded its physical locations into other communities throughout the state.
It was that day the Thomasville Orphanage, as it was known then, was born. With only $7, you can provide a Christmas chicken dinner to one of our families. BCH provides care for children in the Dominican Republic, Haiti, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Liberia, Zambia, and the United States. The reason we provide ministry and outreach to people of every age can be found at the center of the BCH heart -- the cross. After all, it is God's unconditional love that mends the most broken of hearts. We are many ministries beating with one heart -- the heartbeat of Jesus.

Provides habilitation, training and instruction, coupled with elements of support and supervision, to reflect the natural flow of training, and other activities as they occur during the course of the client's day. BCH provides a supportive home for teen mothers and their babies. In Quetzaltenango , Guatemala that provides homes to impoverished boys and girls. Some years our congregation provides volunteer manual labor to help maintain one of the residence facilities while other years we provide a special offering to support their operations. While looking back into its storied past, Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina leans into the future—standing on a firm foundation built on faith and love. BCH President/CEO Michael C. Participates in the agency's Performance Quality Improvement program as needed. Reports to Administrator and documents all accidents/incidents according to Institutional policies and procedures and state regulations. Cooperates with Direct Support Professionals to promote the safety and best interests of the resident, and to create a pleasant working environment. Maintains proper documentation of services according to CAP regulations and as directed by Administrator.
Since 1918, Baptist Children’s Home and Family Services has been a source of hope and healing, providing Christ-centered services to children and families in need. Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina, Inc., founded in 1885, is one of the largest residential child care facilities in the South. Within a year, however, supporters of the idea had appointed John Haymes Mills as the first general superintendent and commissioned him with the task of raising money and finding a site.
Provides support combined with supervision of the assigned client's activities to sustain skills gained through habilitation and training as outlined in the individual's person centered plan. The heart of Baptist Children's Homes beats with a rhythm of hope that extends to children, families and adults. For every person's specific need, there is a unique BCH ministry ready to help.
A site was selected in Thomasville, and the first resident of the Baptist Orphanage was admitted in 1885. The Innovations Support Professional is an hourly, nonexempt position. This role must demonstrate the purpose, philosophy, policies and procedures of Baptist Children's Homes of N.C. This position requires an active and cooperative team member who oversees the day to day activities and needs of adults with developmental disabilities in care.
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to drive and get in and out of a 12 passenger van unassisted, walk up and down stairs, sit, stand, reach, talk and/or hear, and lift up to 15 lbs. Residential Care for boys and girls is provided at six of Baptist Children's Homes facilities across the state. Residential care takes place in community-based group cottages made up of residents and two sets of houseparents. Makala accepted Christ after being adopted by Roger and Shanell Cook, a Baptist Children's Homes foster care family.

To reflect the changes, the Thomasville Orphanage was renamed Mills Home in memory of its founder. The organizational name officially became the Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina in 1956. Duties required are performed in a group home setting, The Cottage Parent is required to live on the premises of Baptist Children's Homes of NC, Inc., and to be available 24 hours a day while on duty.
Any gifts given above the need for Christmas chickens will be used in the daily care and feeding of children. That extends to children, families and adults throughout North Carolina and beyond. For each person’s specific need, we offer a unique ministry ready to help.
